Several new projects are currently underway at the Joslyn.  In the coming days you’ll be seeing additional signage on banners in front of the green around the lawn bowls area.  Also, bids have been received on the new flooring to supplement the existing dance floor in the main hall.  We have submitted  the plan to the County ( they own the building as a “community building”) and await the go-ahead from them.  One quick reminder:  We have vintage plumbing so don’t put any non-TP paper in the toilets, straws or sticks down sink drain or anything but water in the drains, and it will spare your Joslyn Center needless plumbing expenses!  There are lots of summer activities at the Joslyn, and here are the Club Notes:

TABLE TENNIS:  We enjoyed a wonderful potluck on Saturday May 31.  Everyone had a great time thanks to our hosts, Felicia and Stewart Bader and to all who attended and brought food, sweets, and beverages to share.  We couldn’t have asked for better weather or a more beautiful outdoor setting.  We’re getting new members all the time who enjoy the mental and physical challenges of this game.  Please join us and try it out.  Paddles and balls are provided.  Potluck picture below:

INVESTMENT CLUB:    The investment club has a rare opening for a new member.  The club is limited to 20 partners who each have  a 1/20 stake in the club’s portfolio of stocks.  There is a buy-in required, but when you wish to leave the club, you take your share  of the current portfolio value with you.  For full details, contact president “Tut” Tuttle 805.924.1853

Bridge rhyme favorites: (1) When the dummy is to your right, lead the weakest suit in sight.(2) When the dummy is to your left, lead through heft.(3) Don't be cute, lead partner's suit.(4) The lead of top of three small is worst of all. (5) The one who knows, goes.(6) You will lose face if you underlead an ace.

POKER CLUB:  The club gathers every Thursday evening at 6:15p in the Conference Room for Dealer’s Choice Poker.  Come join in the fun for a $5 or $25 buy-in for the evening.  We also have a tournament every month and our next one is Saturday July 12th at 6:15p in the Main Hall. This month the game will be Omaha 8 and the buy-in is $20 and re-buys for $20 (for a limited time).  Looking forward to seeing you for a fun and affordable evening at the poker table!   Questions?  Contact Manya Brett at 805.927.5000 cell/text

SPIRIT DANCE AND FULL MOON DRUM CIRCLE:  No training or prior experience needed to enjoy a great evening of drumming and dancing, and new participants are always welcome!  Our next Full Moon Drum Circle will be July 7th at 6:30p in the Main Hall.  We have loaner rhythm makers or bring your own and bring your own refreshments.  No cost except a donation to the Joslyn Center is welcome.

FISHING CLUB:   Sharing our passion for fishing can be incredibly rewarding, whether it’s introducing someone new to the sport or bonding with fellow anglers over favorite fishing holes and techniques.  It’s about more than just catching fish; it’s about connecting with nature, building friendships, and creating lasting memories.  New members always welcome!

JULY CLEANUP CLUB is Cambria Chorale
